⌈ CHARACTER SECTION ⌉

Character: Ben Tennyson
Age: 16
Canon: Ben 10 (Original timeline)
Canon Point: Through the end of Omniverse. (Ben will remember things in production order rather than release order.)

Background: To save on eyes and the blood and tears that both mods and player will shed in trying to write it out, please allow me to refer you to the wiki. You'll need to click the "Original" tab given the reboot is the first thing that pops up.

Personality:
At first blush, Ben doesn't seem like the most capable superhero. He's immature and tends to make jokes even when facing down the latest bad guy he's come across. He tends to act pretty goofy and almost seems like he doesn't take anything seriously, a cause for annoyance to those around him. He also can be rather inquisitive though at times possessing a short attention span which can lead to him fiddling with nearby objects including the Omnitrix.

However, Ben lives up to the "trickster" part of his online gaming handle when people least expect it. For example, sometimes that short attention span is a trick: He'll be paying attention while giving the impression that he isn't to catch others off-guard. Despite having an easy tell when he lies (his eye tends to twitch), he can be quite deceptive when he puts his mind to it. Usually, he's deceiving those around him into thinking he's more confident in a situation than he actually is.

He tries not to show it, but he's actually pretty scared of being a hero. He's well-aware of the fact that he has to keep winning or it won't necessarily be just him who pays the price. This means that one of Ben's biggest fears is failure. In order to hide it, his immaturity goes into overdrive, becoming much more cocky and arrogant. This defense mechanism can make him look downright obnoxious when he's at his most scared, rightly earning criticism. While most would likely tell him that it's okay to be afraid, he firmly believes that heroes aren't supposed to show when they're scared to give the people they're protecting more confidence in that they can do the job. Unfortunately, this has the nasty side effect of Ben having nightmares regularly and not wanting to talk about or even admit to them which can make the nightmares worse. His anxieties can also trigger that itch to start fiddling with things.

Though originally allowing the celebrity of having his secret revealed to the world to go to his head and at times abuse his celebrity status to bend the rules a bit (such as when he'd planned to use it to wait at the gate with Julie when he took her to the airport before her tennis tour), Ben's started to calm down and even become annoyed by it. Though he doesn't always show it, he understands that it's not about him; it's about the people he's protecting...even if by being a public hero means that he draws trouble to him and the people around him like a magnet. Not to mention all the people who come to hunt him down to steal the Omnitrix or, in Khyber's case, hunt him down for sport. He'll smile, wave, and sign autographs for fans, but at the same time there's a loneliness that he can't quite shake since the crowd and people that will cheer him on will just as easily turn their backs on him given the opportunity, an emotion he runs away from via distractions and keeping himself too busy to feel it.

Despite his rather glaring flaws, Ben is very good-natured and optimistic, usually showing a smile to everyone else to keep their spirits up. He wants to truly help others as a general rule, caring deeply for others' lives. This leads to a self-sacrificing nature, willing to step in and take the beating for others or give up his own life if it means someone else would be spared. While the Omnitrix is usually able to revive him should he die, he knows that one day he won't be so lucky but is okay with going out in a blaze of glory to save others.

Despite being willing to sacrifice himself, Ben loathes it when others sacrifice themselves for the same reasons. He will act against all logic to prevent someone else having to pay such a steep price. He'll even work to save an enemy in trouble despite it making his job that much harder.

Though not the quickest person to anger even when fighting an enemy, the person Ben will be hardest on is himself. If someone is harmed because of something he did or was unable to do, Ben gets very angry. Another way is for someone to deliberately threaten innocents or kill them. In these instances, Ben becomes more violent and aggressive. His personality becomes cold-hearted, ruthless, and downright pessimistic, a complete one-eighty from his usual personality.

His personality also shifts when he's in alien form. For example, as Grey Matter he tends to be more analytical than normal as opposed to his more feral personality as Wildmutt.

Abilities:
Below are the strengths and weaknesses of his default human form and the second Omnitrix (you'll need to click the Second tab).

I'd like Ben to have access to his unlocked aliens from Omniverse (you'll need to click the Second tab) save Alien X and Atomix because those two are his most powerful aliens, the former of which he used to recreate his universe when it was destroyed.

I would also like to weaken Clockwork like I came up with the previous time I app'd Ben in.

Whampire he still didn't have much control over, so potential for things going wrong if he gets too negative would be cool.

Default Human Form

Note: Some of these powers and weaknesses transfer to his other forms as well.

Powers
Above Average Intelligence and Intuition - While not a genius, Ben catches on quickly to different concepts even if he doesn't fully understand them such as the non-linear thinking required when dealing with time travel. While he might initially run into a problem, he learns from his mistakes to be able to solve it. He typically keeps a B+ average with Chemistry as his weakest subject though he's usually told he doesn't really work up to his full potential in school.

Enhanced Eidetic Memory - Ben can remember things even from something as small as a few-second glance at an image. They stick in his mind for later recall though how well he does that seems to depend on how focused he is on remembering or if someone else jogs his memory.

Resourcefulness and Cunning - Ben is able to adapt to different situations reasonably well. While he'll complain about it if the situation is greatly not in his favor, he can use what's on hand or the alien the Omnitrix has dealt him to turn things back more in his or someone else's favor.

Freestyle Combat - Ben isn't formally trained, but he can use his environment or alien forms in a fight both with and without a weapon.

Cross Dominant - Ben can wield tools or weapons in either hand, regardless of form.

Athleticism - Ben is very athletic, particularly enjoying games like soccer or basketball though he played baseball in his younger years.

Agility - Ben is nimble and can dodge quite well.

The Omnitrix - An alien device resembling a wristwatch which allows him to change into different aliens that is fully explained farther below.

Weaknesses
Naturally Powerless - Outside of using his alien forms, Ben has no superpowers whatsoever. He is as vulnerable to various threats as any other human.

Smaller-Than-Average Body - Ben has always been pretty much the smallest kid in the class. He hasn't hit his growth spurt yet and is typically dwarfed by the other guys. Even a few of the girls are taller than him. He also isn't very muscular despite being athletic.

Clear Tell When Lying - Ben's left eye has a tendency to twitch when he's lying though few people seem to have noticed this.

Unfriendly Fire - Never ever give Ben a blaster. He can't hit the broad side of a barn unless he's at point-blank range.

Peanut Allergy - He doesn't seem to be affected by being in the general vicinity of peanuts but he doesn't eat or even dare to touch them as a precaution.

Coulrophobia - Ben is absolutely terrified of clowns. He can work past it if someone precious to him's life is in danger as long as there isn't an entire army of them around. However, he tends to deny that this fear exists.

Fear of Peacocks - As strange as it might seem, Ben's more willing to own up to this fear than to his fear of clowns.

The Omnitrix - Ben tends to rely heavily on the Omnitrix in combat, primarily because his alien forms are typically stronger and more resilient than his natural human form. However, it isn't a perfect machine as explained below.

The Omnitrix
An alien device resembling a white, green, and black wristwatch that's attached to Ben's left wrist, binding itself to his DNA. Though it doesn't speak outside of robotic queries and statements using samples of Ben's own voice, it possesses an artificial intelligence which is developing its own playful personality likely due to Ben's influence. Ben will periodically talk to and even bicker with the device (as much as it's possible to do so). In a way, it's more of Ben's silent partner than a simple tool.

Powers
DNA Alterer - The Omnitrix can combine the DNA of the user to the DNA templates of one of over a million different species largely from the Milky Way Galaxy. A well-practiced user can even swap out alien forms without having to revert to their default form, but this tends to drain the charge faster.

DNA Capture - Able to sample DNA from new aliens and add them to its database.

Reviver - Due to its database of DNA samples, a species that has gone extinct can be brought back using the basic template of that species. It can even be used to try and revive the user themselves should they be killed while wearing it.

Manual Control - Unlike its prototype and the Ultimatrix, the current Omnitrix has a touch interface for selecting an alien. A well-practiced user can also swap out alien forms or manually revert back to their default form by touching the Omnitrix symbol.

Universal Translator - Able to translate any spoken language.

Communicator - The Omnitrix can be used in place of a more typical communicator.

GPS - Able to act as and display a map for the user.

Digital Watch - Unlike its previous incarnations, the current Omnitrix can actually tell time.

Genetic Repair - Able to repair genetic damage in both the user and other creatures. Typically drains both the internal battery and the user's energy.

Possession/Mutagen/Artificial Mind Control Immunity - Only when the user is in alien form. User cannot be possessed, mutated, or influenced via mind control devices without significant amounts of technological modification and energy. However, this does not seem to apply to natural mind control abilities outside of direct possession.

Life-Form Lock - The user can stay in the selected alien form until the function is disengaged. However, this appears to sacrifice the ability to swap into other forms. Also, extended periods of time in one alien form can prove dangerous to the user.

Self-Alteration - The Omnitrix can change its appearance and size to accommodate the user. When in alien form, it appears as a badge bearing its symbol typically around the head or chest area of the alien.

Defensive Measures - If someone attempts to tamper with it against the user's will, the Omnitrix will launch a large feedback pulse at its attacker in defense.

Unique Item - While copies of the Omnitrix can be created with enough know-how (which, considering that it's considered to be Level 20 technology on what's a mostly Level 2 world, would have to be highly advanced), only one can truly exist at a time. Originally, the reason was that due to the Omnitrix received all DNA data from Primus instead of locally storing it, meaning that the user's default DNA was stored there as well. Anyone attempting to use a copy would have their Omnitrix sync up with the current user of the original's, including overwriting the copy user's default DNA with the original's user's own. Removal of the copy would not revert the copy's user's DNA back to normal; the original Omnitrix was required to correct the problem. While DNA samples are now stored locally, this still seems to be an issue given that Albedo, a Galvan who became trapped in an altered version of Ben's body, is still unable to revert his default form even with his upgraded copy. On top of this, the current Omnitrix was built specifically for Ben and will lock out any other user save its creator, Azmuth.

Voice Command - Can be controlled via vocal commands. Currently locked.

Teleportation - Limited to only through its creator's, Azmuth's, teleportation system. Currently locked.

Master Control - Allows for unlimited transformations with no time outs. Currently locked.

Weaknesses
Bleed-Through - All injuries, all illnesses, and some biological states can bleed through to different forms of the user including their default form. As an example, the age of the user can affect the relative age of their alien forms. For another, when Big Chill was on its eighty-year cycle to lay eggs, the side effects of the pregnancy bled through to Ben as unusual cravings, strange behavior, and random blackouts as Big Chill took over to build a nest.

Time Limits - Without the Master Control, the user is limited to a maximum of fifteen minutes in one alien form (assuming no swapping forms). The time limit is randomized between five and fifteen minutes when the user bangs on the device while confirming their selection as Ben typically does.

Limited Charge - The Omnitrix has to take time to recharge between uses, and multiple transformations drain the battery. Depending on how much the user uses the Omnitrix during a short period of time, the time between recharges varies.

Energy Drain - The Omnitrix will drain energy from its user to supplement its own reserves in the case of several rapid-fire transformations or to repeatedly run higher-level processes such as the genetic repair functionality which was explained farther above.

Unique Energy Signature - The Omnitrix uses what is known as omni energy to power itself and allow the user to transform. During normal wear, there isn't enough energy output to register on sensors, but transforming will generate a massive power spike on any sensors calibrated to search for it, more than enough to determine a location where the transformation sequence was triggered.

Difficult Removal - Without the command to release the Omnitrix, it can't be removed very easily due to binding to the user's DNA even if the body part it's attached to is removed from the rest of their body. Not even diamond-tipped blades can cut it off. However, it is possible to tear apart the genetic bindings at great pain to the user. Still, the Omnitrix will attempt to defend itself if this is done against the wishes of its user.

Weakness to Electromagnetic Interference - Electromagnetic interference can force the Omnitrix to transform the user and then stay locked in transformation mode until the source of the interference is removed. This could mean that the user could be stuck in one random form or end up changing from one form to another at random.

Manual Control - When Voice Control is not available, it's easy to prevent transformation by restraining the user's arms so they cannot touch the Omnitrix's controls. Also, the touch interface controls can be rather finicky, leading to a "mistransformation" which is caused by the user accidentally selecting the wrong alien right before they confirm their selection.

Randomizer Function - A function that can do one of two things: change the user into a random alien every few minutes until the battery runs out or changes the user into a random alien for a very short period of time.

Hackable - Despite being Level 20 technology--the most advanced known to Ben's universe--it isn't impossible to hack the Omnitrix or even remotely control it. However, it takes a lot of technical know-how to be able to do so.

DNA Capture - While using the DNA Capture function, the Omnitrix will lock the user out of the system if they attempt to get too far away from the unknown sample without allowing the watch to collect it. It will only unlock the system once it has scanned the sample and added it to its database.

Limited Users - The current Omnitrix only works for Ben Tennyson and, theoretically, its creator Azmuth. There are security protocols in place to prevent others from taking and using it themselves.

Alignment: Thras. As a hero, Ben has the courage to charge into battle for the safety of others. However, he pays for that courage with terrible nightmares many nights.

Other:
Just want to re-link the alien limits that were decided on during my previous run.

Also, I'm willing to handwave the idea that any alien species Ben encounters in game are already a part of the Omnitrix that he just hasn't unlocked yet. After all, there were--at last count pre-reboot--1,000,911 samples that the Omnitrix has on record. Ben had only managed to unlock about seventy around his canon point.

I'd also like him to maintain his previous memories of Verens.

⌈ SAMPLE SECTION ⌉

General Sample: Ben's happy the mun is finally letting him go back.

Emotion Sample:
No home, no cousin, not even sure most of his friends were still there. How had things changed so much in six months? How had it even been six months?!

"When it rains, it pours, huh?" he muttered bitterly.

The moment he said it, he braced himself for the sensation of ice cold rain water falling onto him. He wasn't disappointed despite it having been sunny only a few minutes ago. That didn't matter when one's emotions could literally control the weather at times.

The Omnitrix on his wrist flashed slightly.

He ran his fingers through his hair. "Yeah, I know, I know: I basically asked for it. Three years here, and you'd think I would've learned by now."

Acknowledging the problem didn't dismiss it though. He was still cold and getting wetter by the moment, intensifying his misery. This, in turn, caused the rain to pour down all the harder in addition to bits of dark blue chitin starting to form on his left arm around the Omnitrix, the power of Verens causing the transformation function to glitch.

He touched the screen, rotating the holo-dial around to Big Chill. If he was going to partially transform, he might as well go all the way. Necrofriggians could survive in the vacuum of space. A little cold rainwater was nothing.

Besides, it was easier to hide your tears when you were a species that couldn't cry in the first place.

Questions: Can't think of anything.
